In the far northern reaches of Canada and Alaska, where the tundra stretches endlessly and the shadows move with the wind, there is said to be a presence watching from the edges of sight, the Inuit call it the Ishigaq, the Stalker, the lurker, the hidden one.
The Ishigaq are watchers of nature, they roam the Nunavut and Northwest territories, these are delicate humanoid spirits, child sized or smaller. They are visible by default but can become translucid and disappear at will. They mind their business, but when trespassers enter their domain, they will allow them to fish and hunt, and pass through as long as the intruder respects nature. They will even help the explorer find substance and continue on their way. If the intruder on the other hand is disrespectful and disrupts the peace, the Ishigaq have the power to control the ambient, creating wind and snow storms, cause confusion and make it impossible for the disrespectful to find their way back, they can make food scarce and unavailable, create wicked sounds that echo in the mind of the ungrateful and cause the demise. The Ishigaq are not malevolent, they are alive, aware and listening.
